Yesterday, was lake day. We woke up and it was 80 degrees at 9 a.m. already. So, we decided that lake day was the only thing we could do. Remember lake day? I know many people probably never got to experience lake day or experienced it too much to not fully appreciate it. Thankfully, I have a Mother-in-law and a Father-in-law who live on a small lake and I get to treat my children to these fun days.
Go back
When we go to the lake, I am instantly brought back to my days of my childhood at my grandparent’s lake they lived on. It’s so strange that I was so young, but there is an essence of familiarity and remembrance. When I smell the air around me, I feel like I am back there on the path leading to my grandparent’s front door. Searching in the polished rocks, that outline their walkway, for the most beautiful one. I do not remember much of that place, but I can picture it though the smells and vivid colors of green that are thrust upon me when I catch a glimpse of the lake.
Remember to Be a Kid
Try to think back when you were young about a place that made you happy and try to be that for your kids. I want my kids to look back on days like yesterday, when they are adults and to clearly picture the whole day. Not just pieces, I want them to see it all and still feel it all. These are the things that are important, remember what it was like to be a kid and you can do great things for your own kids.
