Date night activities for in the home.

Ultimate Date Night Activities for Parents without a Babysitter

Every so often, my husband and I will have a date night. Our definition of a date night might be a bit different than what you’re thinking. We do go out sometimes when able to, but with being parents of four children that need a babysitter or childcare, that option is not always available. Oh, and costs would be crazy to have a sitter for four children and to go out! It’s not cheap! So here are my top great in-home dates and no Babysitter required.

Board games/Card games on Date Night

This is pretty self-explanatory. We love to play Risk. I recommend only playing that game if you have ALOT of time on your hands and patience. We also play card games together and usually have a beverage or two. Card games we typically play are Golf, Rummy, Kings Corner and WAR. We also don’t keep score that often. I see you, competitive people out there, relax, it’s just a game.

Video Games

I mean, who doesn’t like Mario Kart or Diablo three! There are so many co-op games out there, it’s insane. My husband is on the fence with video games, but he loves me enough to put himself through something he doesn’t like. After a bit, he gets into it. So, all good! Just try not to fall asleep with your thumb pushing down on the attack button, because I promise you, he will know! HA

Bonfires

Bonfires are the greatest. There is nothing like bringing out the inner She-woman of destruction to make your partner give you “the look”. Tear some trees down together. Get the chainsaw out. Burn brush together. Then after all that, sit down at the fire and enjoy what you just made together. Hold your partners hand and play some relaxing music. You cannot go wrong with bon fires.

Watch a Movie

Of course, watch a movie would be on this list. I am not talking about a simple movie, pick out like a three-hour movie like Avatar, Titanic, or Pearl Harbor. Sit, have popcorn, snuggle up, then have popcorn again, because it’s a three-hour movie. HA

Cook a Date Night Meal Together

When I say cook a meal together, what I really mean is, one of you does like 60 percent of the cooking and the other just watches or asks what they can do to help. But this is my favorite “Date Night” activity because while you guys are cooking there is laughing, dancing, talking, and someone is filling up the house with smoke. How can you beat that?

Always Remember to Enjoy

My husband and I are just trying to get by, and most times In-house date nights are the only way to spend time together. It is so important to keep dating each other all the way on up till your old and gray. This is how you keep the spark in the relationship. Not by eating fancy meals and going to concerts but doing these important activities together in your own living space.
